How to Download a PDF (Portable Document Format) File If you've ever tried to download a PDF file by clicking on a link and the file opened instead, there is another technique you can use to download the file. Instead of clicking on the link, hold your mouse over the link and click on it with your right mouse button. This will bring up a menu. Click on either "Save Target As" (Explorer) or "Save Link As" (Navigator). Navigator will also allow you to hold the shift key down while you left click on the link.
